An 18-year-old has been charged with murder after his father was found dead in their apartment in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue area.

Police were called to 39 Pemberton Avenue late Saturday night after a body was discovered in one of the upper level suites of the building.

When they arrived, they found a man dead with obvious signs of trauma to his body.

Toronto police have identified the victim as 61-year-old Aloy Onochie.

The death was initially deemed suspicious, however police later confirmed in a news release Sunday morning that the incident was being investigated as a homicide.

Police told CP24 Sunday morning that the victim's son was found at a nearby entrance to Finch Station.

Officers were called to the station after a call about a man walking around with a knife. After Emergency Task Force officers spent several hours calming the man down, he was taken to hospital with self-inflicted wounds.

Uchenna Onochie has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the incident.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Monday.
