Police are trying to identify a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged verbal assault on two Muslim women riding the TTC Wednesday night.

TTC spokesperson Brad Ross previously said the incident occurred during rush hour Wednesday night on a subway train travelling between Bloor-Yonge Station and Sherbourne Station.

He said three people, 2 males and a female, got on the subway and began verbally accosting two women who were wearing hijabs. Ross said that the suspects allegedly hurled racists comments at the women and even accused them of being terrorists.

Ross said the TTC obtained an image of one of the suspects and investigators are trying to identify him.

“One of these cowards pushed one of our customers, this innocent victim, and then a witness on board the train activated the emergency alarm,” Ross said Thursday.

TTC staff attempted to locate the suspects, who Ross said exited the train at Sherbourne Station, but were unable to apprehend the men.

Meanwhile, a march will be held this morning for a Muslim woman who police say was attacked while walking to pick up her son from a public school in Flemingdon Park.

Students are Ryerson University are also hosting an event today in an effort to spread a positive message and fight Islamophobia.
