Toronto police say they are investigating after a man’s dog ate a tainted dog treat and became violently sick in Toronto’s Thorncliffe Park neighbourhood last week.

Police say that at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, a man was walking his dog in a park near the intersection of Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard.

The man saw that his dog had a green object in its mouth, resembling a stick. Police said the man removed the stick from his dog’s mouth.

When the man returned home from his walk, police said his dog became “violently ill.”

Police said the man returned to the area of the park where he first noticed his dog had the stick and found several more of them lying in the grass.

Police say the sticks are about 13 cm long, green in colour and have a very strong chemical odour.

It is feared that animals or children could consume the sticks and become sick.
