Homicide detectives have been called in after a woman’s body was found in a vehicle in Mississauga.

A passerby noticed the body inside a black BMW in a parking lot on Robert Speck Parkway near Hurontario Street around 1:20 p.m. and called 911.

Police and paramedics arrived and found the woman with “obvious signs of trauma.” She was declared dead at the scene.

“At this time we’re still at the early stages of the investigation,” Const. George Tudos said.

He said it’s still too early to say exactly how the woman died.

“Our homicide team has arrived here and will be doing their assessment,” he said.

Tudos said it was not yet clear how long she had been in the vehicle. He said the vehicle was parked near a busy office building in an area where many people work.

While police have provided few details about the woman herself, they said the vehicle is related to a missing person case from April 9.

“The vehicle that’s related to this incident is the vehicle we were looking for yesterday from a missing persons investigation,” Tudos said.

However he said that investigation remains ongoing.

There is no concern for public safety in regards to the discovery, police said.
