Police have issued a public safety alert after a group of men allegedly tried to lure a young girl into their van in the Runnymede area on two separate occasions last week.

The incidents took place in the vicinity of Jane and Annette streets.

In the first incident on Nov. 19, police say three male suspects pulled up alongside a 13-year-old girl walking on the south side of Annette Street at around 7:45 a.m. and attempted to lure her into their van. The girl then fled the scene.

In the second incident on Nov 20, police say three men pulled up alongside a different 13-year-old girl waiting at a bus stop near Jane Street and St John’s Road at around 3:45 p.m. and attempted to lure her into their van. The girl then refused and the men sped away from the scene, according to police.

The vehicle in both incidents is described as a white cargo van and police tell CP24 that they are actively searching the neighbourhood for the suspects and have alerted all officers.

The first suspect is described as white, between the ages of 20 and 30 with short dark hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a construction vest.

The second suspect is described as white, in his mid-20s with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a beige or white winter coat.

The third suspect is described as white, in his mid-20s with short dark hair. He was also last seen wearing a beige or white winter coat.
