Peel Regional Police have arrested a man in connection with two separate incidents of graffiti vandalism at a Catholic elementary school and nearby church.

On May 20, police responded to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary School, at 2350 Hurontario Street in Mississauga, after walls on both buildings and a statue were covered in black spray paint graffiti.

The wall of the school contained anti-Semitic messages.

On Monday morning, police again responded to the school after a wall was found to be covered in spray painted unintelligible words and diagrams.

Peel Regional Police say they arrested 22-year-old suspect Iqbal Hessan of Mississauga at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

He is facing charges of break, enter and commit and indictable offence along with five counts of mischief over $5,000.

He will appear in a Brampton courtroom Tuesday for a bail hearing.
