Toronto police have arrested a 23-year-old man nearly a month after a violent incident took place near Yonge-Dundas Square.

The arrest is connected to an assault and armed robbery that took place overnight on April 7. A witness told police he saw a woman being assaulted near Yonge Street and Dundas Street West and tried to intervene.

When he tried to intervene, the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at him and robbed him.

The witness called 911. Police spotted a suspect but the man fled during a foot chase into the Dundas subway station. At one point, the suspect hopped on to the subway tracks during the pursuit.

An arrest was made in connection with the incident on May 5.
