Police have released a surveillance camera image of a car that was used in a shooting on Highway 401 earlier this month.

The shooting occurred in the eastbound express lanes of the highway near Bayview Avenue at around 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 20.

Police have said that a transport truck was heading east when its driver spotted a small blue car with two people inside pulling ahead and then slowing down.

When the truck pulled even with the car again, police say the driver took a handgun and fired multiple gunshots shots at the truck.

“The truck driver at the time actually thought it was the sound of rocks hitting his truck,” Const. Jen Sidhu said Friday afternoon. “Somebody may have heard or seen something and not realized it was (gunshots) being fired from that vehicle.”

She called the shooting which occurred in broad daylight, “concerning and alarming.”

At that point, the driver of the truck pulled his vehicle onto the shoulder and the blue car continued eastbound on Highway 401.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or recognizes the vehicle to come forward.

Police have previously described the suspect vehicle as Audi sedan.
