Police are asking the public to help them identify a suspect who allegedly stalked and criminally harassed an Ajax couple.

According to police, in late May, an Ajax man left work in Whitby to find the tires in his car had been flattened. They were flattened two more times over the following two weeks.

After that the couple reported being harassed several more times. They reported that that they found the front door of their home in Ajax wide open in the morning after locking it the night before. They also said that their car license plates had been stolen and replaced with other stolen plates. They also said they found Vaseline smeared on the door handles of their house and car.

On June 19, the couple caught sight of a man moving garbage cans to the front door of the house. The man ran into a car that was parked in the house’s driveway but the couple was still able to capture a photo of him.

Sgt. Bill Calder confirmed that the victims do not know the man in the photograph.

He also said that the police have images that allegedlyshow the same suspectstealing license plates from a different car. These stolen plates were the ones that were later found on the couple’s car. Another, smaller investigation led police to believe that the man who deflated the victim’s car tires at his workplace is the same man who appeared at the house, Calder said.

The man is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, five feet 10 inches tall, with a heavy build and dark brown hair that is balding on top. His car is described as a newer, dark silver Hyundai Elantra.
