Police are searching for a male suspect after a student was injured in a stabbing at a Brampton secondary school Friday afternoon.

The male student was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following the incident at St. Edmund Campion Secondary School at around 12:50 p.m.

Police confirmed around 3:30 p.m. that the student had been stabbed.

St. Edmund Campion Secondary School was placed under a hold and secure order as police investigated the stabbing Friday.

Two nearby schools, St. Aidan Catholic Elementary School and St. Bonaventure Catholic Elementary School, were also under hold and secure orders as a precaution.

Police said all hold and secure orders had been lifted by around 2:30 p.m.

The suspect is described as a black male with an afro-style haircut. He was last seen wearing black pants, a dark-coloured sweater and dark-coloured vest with a brown and green duffle bag over his shoulder.
