York Regional Police say they are searching for three or four men who barged into a home in Markham Thursday night.

Police said a man was at his home alone on Grandview Avenue, near the intersection of Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue. The resident heard banging on his door, called 911 and went to his basement.

Police allege the suspects forced their way in, restrained the man and may have held a gun to his back. The assailants fled the home once they realized the victim had called 911.

Nothing was taken from the home and the man was not physically injured.

Police describe the suspects as male, with some or all of them speaking with a Jamaican or Dominican accent. They were each wearing tactical vests similar to police vests.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
