York Regional Police are investigating after they say three suspects stole a tractor-trailer carrying frozen food products and crashed the vehicle in Vaughan.

According to police, the truck was stolen from Peel Region last night and officers located it in the area of Royal Group Crescent in Vaughan early Wednesday morning.

Const. Andy Pattenden said officers attempted to stop the truck but the driver refused to pull over.

Minutes later, Pattenden said the suspects crashed the truck near Highway 7 and Highway 427.

The suspects fled the scene however Pattenden said one was located in a car on Royal Crest Drive and the other two were found trying to get in to a taxi nearby.

The three were arrested and have been charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused are scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket later this morning.
