Toronto police will be providing an update this morning on the murder of Shaka Reid, a 36-year-old Toronto man who was gunned down in the city's downtown core one week ago.

Reid was shot to death near the intersection of Dundas and Sherbourne streets shortly after midnight on Aug. 19.

Witnesses who were sitting across the road at the time of shooting told CP24 they saw a group of young men disappear into an alley before a single gunshot rang out.

Reid's body was found by paramedics a short time later.

Police say they will be releasing images and security camera footage today in hopes that members of the public can help identify the suspects.

Det.-Sgt. Mike Carbone will provide more details about the case at a news conference at Toronto Police Headquarters at 10:30 a.m.
