Dozens of people were arrested during pre-dawn raids across the GTA this morning as part of a large drug investigation.

Durham Regional Police with the assistance of the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force began executing several search warrants at 5 a.m. at a number of locations throughout the GTA, including Scarborough, Brampton as well as Durham and York regions.

Police say 29 search warrants were executed in total, including fourteen warrants in Durham Region, nine in Toronto, four in York Region, one in Peel Region and one in the Ottawa area.

The investigation led to the arrest of 36 people, who are facing a number of charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. 

During the raids, Durham police say officers seized a number of items believed to be proceeds of crime including cocaine, crystal meth, marijuana, MDMA, cash, vehicles and one residence.
