A puppy was stolen from a child who was out walking his pet in Brampton late Friday afternoon.

Const. Rachael Gibbs told CP24 the 12-year-old boy was with a friend who was also with a dog at around 5 p.m. The two were walking their pets in a field at the back of an elementary school in the Ray Lawson Boulevard and Stalbridge Avenue area when a male approached and snatched the dog. The second dog was left behind.

The man grabbed the puppy and fled towards the front of the school, got into a red SUV and sped away.

Peel police say they are now looking for a suspect believed to be between the ages of 18 and 20 years old. He is believed to be East Indian with a large build, beard, sideburns and blemished skin. He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants.

Authorities have also released a photo of the missing American Bulldog puppy whose name is Junior.
