Residents have been evacuated from an apartment building near Lansdowne Avenue and Queen Street after a two-alarm fire broke out at the highrise Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to the building, located at 105 West Lodge Avenue, shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday and the fire was knocked down at around 9:45 p.m.

When crews arrived on the scene, a third-floor apartment was fully engulfed in flames. Toronto Fire Platoon Chief Wayne Patterson said several people, including a woman and a child, had to be rescued from balconies.

No injuries were reported and Toronto Fire is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Fire officials did not say when people can expect to return to their units.

Jack Goncalves, a resident of the building, told CP24's Travis Dhanraj that when the alarm went off, his son went out to the balcony to see what was happening.

"We actually saw the flames," he said.

“I got my dog and my family out. That is what matters to me the most."
