Road work, a charity road race and planned subway maintenance will slow travel times this weekend.

The Gardiner Expressway from the Humber Bridge to Carlaw Avenue and the Don Valley Parkway from Highway 401 south to the Gardiner will be closed this Sunday from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The closure opens the roadways to cyclists participating in The Becel Heart and Stroke Ride for Heart. More than 14,000 participants will ride up to 75 kilometres on the expressways to raise funds for heart disease and stroke research.

On Sunday, the Walk for Values will also close portions of University Avenue, Gerrard Street West, Yonge Street and Queen Street West between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., police say.

The subway will not run between Downsview and St. Clair West stations on Saturday and Sunday due to a scheduled closure for maintenance.

Shuttle buses will be running, but will not enter Eglinton West station due to road work in the area. Instead, buses will stop at the intersection of Bathurst and Eglinton Avenue West.
