Toronto police are investigating seven fires that started overnight in the west end as possible arson.

Six of the fires, were set in garbage bins near Roncesvalles Avenue and Dundas Street between 2:45 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. A seventh trash can was set ablaze farther west near Jane and Bloor streets.

Toronto Fire said they were concerned about dry leaves in the area posing a danger of spreading the fires quickly, but they were able to douse the flames.

A resident in the area told CP24 that a similar fire was started a few weeks ago as well.

Police are asking people living in the neighbourhood to check their security surveillance cameras and report any suspicious people they may have seen.
