Toronto was hit with some wild weather Friday night with large hail and flooding reported across the GTA.

Environment Canada ended its severe thunderstorm warning for the City of Toronto shortly before 8 p.m. but not before approximately 65 millimetres of rain fell in the northern part of the GTA over a two-hour period.

The Toronto and Region Conservation issued a flood warning Friday night and social media was abuzz with reports of washed out streets across the GTA.

City of Toronto beaches were closed Friday night and authorities warned residents to stay away from the water.

The flooding left at least one Markham business owner with a big mess on his hands.

Friday night's downpour marked the second time in a week Racetronics owner Jack Levison had to clean up a waterlogged store.

“We just finished cleaning up today… throwing out a lot of electronics and damaged good," Levinson told CP24's Travis Dhanraj Friday.

"Here we are again revisiting the same thing less than a week later."
