A pair of early-morning collisions in North York have sent a total of six people to hospital.

The first incident happened near Keele Street and Wilson Avenue at around 5:20 a.m. and involved two vehicles.

According to the Toronto Paramedic Service, two people were transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries as a result and two others were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The second accident happened near Allen Road and Sheppard Avenue at around 6 am. and involved a tractor trailer and a car.

One person was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being extricated from the vehicle while another was transported with serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

"One patient was trapped in the car in the passenger seat and we cut the door post out and were able to free him," District Chief Al Andrews told CP24 at the scene. "His legs were pinned under the dash and he was in there pretty tight so it was a bit of a challenge."

The circumstances surrounding the collision are not known.

Allen Road was closed between Sheppard Avenue and Transit Road but reopened at around 2 p.m.
