A stretch of Gerrard Street East has reopened after a stolen security vehicle hit a hydro pole near Church Street early Sunday.

Police say the white security car was stolen in the Black Creek Drive and Todd Baylis Boulevard area.

The driver then struck a hydro pole on Gerrard Street downtown around 5:30 a.m. He then fled the scene.

Gerrard Street was closed between Yonge Street and Church Street as a hydro crew repaired the damage. It reopened a short time later.
