Two men were taken into custody after a stolen tractor trailer collided with a police cruiser in Brampton on Friday morning.

It happened near McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue shortly before 6 a.m.

Peel Regional Police say that the collision resulted after police initiated an investigation into the stolen tractor trailer.

A foot pursuit followed the collision and police say the two men were arrested as a result of that.

According to the Special Investigations Unit, one of the men was bitten by a police dog and a conducted energy weapon was fired.

The suspect was taken to Brampton Civic Hospital for treatment for a neck injury and the dog bite.

The SIU says it has invoked its mandate and is investigating.

Five investigators, two forensic experts and a collision reconstructionist have been assigned to the incident.
