Toronto police have arrested a 61-year-old personal support worker after a 95-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer's said he was sexually assaulted in his East York home.

Det. Sgt. Jim Gotell said police received a call from the child of the alleged victim at a home in the Broadview and Mortimer avenues area at 9:41 a.m. on Thursday.

A man identified as Danilo Alcala was arrested while assissting a client at a different home and charged with one count of sexual assault.

The suspect appeared in court at College Park on Friday at 10 a.m. in room 507. Gotell said the  has been remanded into custody.

Const. Jenniferjit Sidhu told CP24 the company Alcala works for has been very cooperative with investigators, but declined to name the firm.

Spectrum Health Care confirmed to CTV News that the suspect was an employee of the company.

"Spectrum Health Care has been made aware that a Spectrum Health Care employee was charged by the Toronto Police on July 17, 2015 with sexual assault of a 95-year old man. As a provider of community services for over 25 years, Spectrum Health Care is taking this very seriously," the company said in a written statement issued to CTV Friday.

"We are cooperating fully with the Toronto Police at Division 54 and other regulatory authorities and have launched an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding this allegation."

Det. Sgt. Gotel said it is possible there are more victims.

"He's been a personal support worker for the past decade and that would give him the opportunity to be involved with many people who are vulnerable."

He added that family members of individuals cared for by personal support workers should try to be around to monitor the worker's activities, or set up video surveillance as a precaution.
