Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was slashed in the face during an unprovoked attack in Greektown yesterday morning.

Police say at around 3:15 a.m., a woman was walking on Danforth Avenue, east of Pape Avenue, when a man began to yell at her for no apparent reason.

There was a brief verbal altercation between the two and police say when the woman went to walk past the man, he pulled out a knife and slashed her twice in the face.

The suspect, police say, was seen fleeing westbound on Danforth Avenue and later northbound on Pape Avenue.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police did not release a detailed description of the suspect, saying only that he was a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
