A small, strange-looking object at Ashbridges Bay caused quite a stir Saturday after someone spotted it and thought it might be an explosive.

Officers were called to Coxwell Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard East around 12:30 p.m. after someone spotted the item.

Police cordoned off an area and kept traffic at a distance. The emergency task force also came to the scene with a robot and bomb experts.

The task force eventually used a water cannon to penetrate the item and discovered that it was a piece of foam wrapped in duct tape.

No one was injured.

It’s not clear what the item was used for or where it came from.
