A 64-year-old man faces nine charges in connection with sexually assaulting a young girl over a three-year period, and police are warning that there may be more victims.

Police say that in 2006, a man befriended a woman with a young daughter.

Between 2006 and 2009, police allege the man sexually assaulted the daughter multiple times, both in his home and in public places.

On Tuesday, police arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the case.

Police believe there may be more victims, and say that prior to living in Toronto, the suspect is believed to have lived in Cambridge and Burlington.

While living in Toronto, police say he frequented the Wellesley Street and Sherbourne Avenue area.

*A Toronto resident was charged with four counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual interference and one count of threatening sexual assault. According to court documents provided to CP24, all counts were withdrawn.
