LONDON, Ont. -- The union representing hundreds of London, Ont. municipal workers threatening to strike says it's going back to the table to resume talks with the city Sunday evening.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says 750 workers are poised to go on strike Monday morning after talks collapsed this weekend.
CUPE spokeswoman Shelley Navarroli says her members are still preparing for a strike while negotiations resume.
The union accuses the city of refusing to back down from demands for concessions including work hours, contracting out and retiree benefits.
CUPE says the municipal employees affected work in areas that include administration, building inspections, bylaw enforcement, tourism and road construction.
The city could not be reached for comment Sunday but issued a statement on Saturday promising to post details on its website on what services will be affected if there is a strike and indicated it remains willing to negotiate.
"We're available, ready and willing to go back and negotiate," Navarollli said. "There's still time before tomorrow morning and we'll do whatever it takes in order to avert a strike as long as what we do is fair for our members."
