Toronto police say a car being used as an Uber t-boned a taxicab at the intersection of King Street East and Princess Street at around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The passenger in the taxicab suffered superficial cuts and was taken to hospital, while a passenger in the Uber vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution, a police staff sergeant from 51 Division said.

Police are investigating the collision.

The city’s taxi drivers have frequently protested the presence of Uber drivers in the city, arguing the app allows drivers for hire to circumvent many established transportation regulations.

A court case where the City of Toronto is asking a judge for an injunction to shut down Uber’s operations in the city is underway.
