On the same day dozens of Quebec and Ottawa schools were evacuated due to bomb threats, the Toronto District School Board was also sent an anonymous threatening email, Toronto police confirm.

According to the TDSB, police were notified immediately after an anonymous bomb threat surfaced in the board’s general inquiries inbox on Tuesday, as schools across Quebec and Ottawa were being evacuated and searched.

No specific schools in Toronto were mentioned in the email, the TDSB said.

Following an investigation, a school board spokesperson said Toronto police did not believe evacuations were necessary.

Police have not confirmed if the threats made to the Quebec schools are linked to the threat made in Toronto.

No suspicious packages were found during the search of the schools in Quebec and so far, four teens have been charged in connection with the incidents.

The teens are facing multiple charges including mischief, uttering threats to burn or destroy or damage Quebec schools, uttering threats to cause death or harm to Quebec students of employees, intent to injure or harm by means of telecommunication information known to be false and conspiring to commit an indictable offence.

Police in Quebec say there may be more suspects who have not yet been identified.
