A 16-year-old boy has been charged after another teen was stabbed multiple times at a Markham banquet hall on Thursday night.

Police responding to a weapons call at the Swaggat Banquet Hall on Hood Road at around 8:40 p.m. discovered a 16-year-old boy suffering from stab wounds in a bathroom.

According to police, witnesses at the scene then identified a man responsible for the attack and officers were able to locate him in the crowd and arrest him without incident.

The victim, meanwhile, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains.

The suspect, who cannot be identified under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing seven charges, including attempted murder and assault with a weapon.
