Toronto police say a 15-year-old boy has been seriously hurt after being hit by a car in northwest Etobicoke Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the intersection of Renforth and Gentian drives, south of Eglinton Avenue West, just before 3 p.m. on Friday.

Sgt. Alan Cohen said two boys were on the side of Renforth Drive when one of them activated a crosswalk and the victim entered the intersection.

He was then struck by an approaching vehicle.

Const. Victor Kwong said an Ornge air ambulance was to pick up the boy and land near Mother Cabrini Catholic School.

The boy will likely be taken to Sunnybrook Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene, Kwong said. Cohen says he is cooperating with police.

Renforth Drive is closed between Eringate Drive and Eglinton Avenue West to allow for an investigation, police said.
