A teenager was airlifted to hospital Sunday after he was struck by a vehicle in Mississauga.

The boy was struck near Dixie Road and Dundas Street East around 1 a.m.

He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries before being airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto, Peel EMS said.

The boy was conscious in hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

Police said the driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene.
