A mayoral candidate is apologizing to the public after a number of residents reported being awoken by campaign robocalls in the middle of the night.
The robocalls authorized by the campaign for Sarah Thomson were reportedly made at around 1 a.m., igniting a backlash from many upset Torontonians who then took to Twitter to lash out at the longshot candidate for the timing of the calls.
Thomson subsequently posted a message to her personal Twitter account apologizing to “anyone who was awoken” and noting that the calls were not intended to be made in the early morning hours.
“I apologize to all + anyone who was awoken by a robocall - I've personally called the company + had them stopped,” she wrote.
Woken up by a ringing landline at 12:43 am. Family emergency? No. A robocall from mayoral candidate @ThomsonTO Great way to lose votes.
