Toronto Hydro says power has now been restored to customers in the St. Lawrence Market area after an outage that lasted for more than 12 hours.

The outage, which was first reported at around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, affected about 16 customers in the area bounded by Queens Quay, Parliament, Front and York streets.

Tori Gass, a spokesperson for Toronto Hydro, told CP24 that the number was a little misleading because some of the customers affected by the outage were commercial and condo buildings.

Gass said the problem had been fixed earlier Thursday morning but it took time to restore power to each individual customer.

"They are having to actually turn customers on one-by-one," she said on Thursday morning.

The issue, Gass said, originated in an underground cable fault and caused extensive damage to other equipment.

Toronto Hydro said power was fully restored shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Last night, Toronto Hydro tweeted out an apology to Raptors fans who couldn't tune into the game due to the outage.
