Toronto police say a 22-year-old Toronto man is facing several charges in connection with a human trafficking investigation involving a teenage girl.

Police say that during a two-month period, a 17-year-old girl was taken to various hotels across the GTA where she was forced to work in the sex trade industry. Police say that during that time, the girl was also beaten, choked, threatened and forced to hand over money.

According to investigators, on Jan. 26, Henok Mebratu was arrested and now faces a total of nine charges including forcible confinement, assault, uttering threats, and trafficking in persons under 18 by exercising control.

Police say they believe there may be more victims and ask anyone with information to call 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
