A torso found floating in the Niagara River nine days ago belongs to a missing mother of three from Niagara Falls, N.Y., police confirm.

Loretta Jo Gates, 30, was last seen on Aug. 25 near Main Street and Niagara Avenue in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

She was subsequently reported missing by her family on Sept. 4.

According to police, her death has now been classified as a homicide.

Additional body parts found

Additional human remains have been found in the Niagara River, Niagara police confirm.

Police say the remains - an arm and a leg - were discovered by a fisherman on Sept. 6.

Police are now investigating whether the body parts belong to Gates.

They have been sent to Hamilton General Hospital for examination.
