Toronto’s mayor took to Twitter Monday night speaking out against a ‘pick-up artist’ set to deliver a seminar in the city later this week.

Daryush Valizadeh, who is more commonly known as Roosh V, is scheduled to speak at an event Saturday afternoon as part of his multi-city world tour titled ‘The State of Man.’

“The State Of Man” is a 40-minute speech that carefully examines the existence of modern man,” his website reads.

“It deconstructs the problems men face today while giving practical solutions for helping them improve their intimate relationships with women and increase their overall enjoyment with life.”

The venue for the event has not been announced.

“(The location) is being withheld to prevent unattractive feminists from petitioning the event,” the website states.

“Judging by the radical feminists that claim Toronto as their home, I made sure to schedule Toronto as my last lecture stop, just in case I don’t make it out in one piece.”

On his website, Valizadeh has written that rape should be legal if commited on private property.

In a series of tweets Monday night, Toronto Mayor John Tory called Valizadeh’s views ‘hate speech,’ and said they have ‘no place in our city.’

“.@rooshv doesn't reflect the values of Toronto and his statements about women are demeaning and unacceptable,” Tory said in one of several posts.

“While free speech is the law in this country, promoting violence against women is wrong.”

“Urging all venue locations in Toronto to deny @rooshv the opportunity to use their space,” Coun. Norm Kelly tweeted.

“He and his views are not welcome in Toronto.”

In response, Valizadeh said that Tory had been ‘lied to’ about him.

“Mr. Mayor, my speech doesn't promote violence, harassment, or hate against any group,” he tweeted.

An online petition trying to block Valizadeh’s entrance into Canada for the tour currently has more than 41,000 signatures.

“We ask Mayor Bonnie Crombie of Mississauga, Mayor John Tory of Toronto, and Mayor Denis Corderre of Montreal to denounce 'RooshV' and to urge local businesses and organizations to deny him accommodation while in Canada,” the petition on www.change.org reads.
