The train death of a teen in the city’s west end has been deemed a misadventure by police after homicide investigators were initially called in to investigate.

The 16-year-old boy’s body was discovered by officers near the train tracks at Old Weston Road and St. Clair Avenue West Jan. 12 around 5:30 p.m. after a passerby called police about a dispute in the area.

Homicide detectives and forensics officers were called to the scene to investigate and police initially deemed the death suspicious.

While the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death are still not clear, homicide detectives turned the case back to 12 Division Jan. 13, saying the death was a misadventure and confirming the boy was hit by a train.

No one is in custody in connection with the incident.

In a separate incident on Sunday, another man was struck and killed by a train near Dundas Street east and Logan Avenue in the city’s east end. Police said the death was not considered suspicious.
