A TTC driver was taken to hospital this morning after he was robbed over what witnesses described to police as a “fare dispute.”

The incident occurred in the area of 1 Yonge St. around 5:20 a.m.

Police say they received multiple calls from people who said a TTC driver, believed to be in his 50s, had been assaulted by a male suspect.

Witnesses told police that at one point during the altercation, the driver fell and the suspect proceeded to kick the victim while he was down.

Police confirmed the driver was robbed but would not say what was taken.

Investigators have not been able to locate the suspect who has been described as a light-skinned black male with a stocky build.
