Those accustomed to riding the rocket to Sunday church services will have a few more steps to take soon.

Starting in June, the TTC will be ending its practice of adding special streetcar stops outside churches on Sunday.

According to TTC spokesman Brad Ross, the decision was made a year ago because the TTC doesn’t make special stops to houses of worship for any other religions.

The move is part of a plan by the TTC to take inventory of all of its 800 streetcar stops. Of those, 42 are ‘Sunday stops’ outside churches.

Ross said all of the special Sunday stops are located within 100 metres of other stops.

He said the elimination of the special stops will keep to transit best practices, which suggest spacing streetcar stops at least 250 metres apart.

The change will only affect streetcar stops and will take effect on June 7.
