Ontario Provincial Police have identified two Caledon men fatally stabbed in Wasaga Beach over the long weekend.

The most recent occurred this morning on Main Street at around 3:30 a.m.

Police identified the victim as 23-year-old Erick Tello Arias shortly after 7 p.m.

A post-mortem examination will take place in Toronto tomorrow, police said.

On Sunday, police confirmed they were looking into the fatal stabbing of another young man.

The victim – identified by police Monday afternoon as Francesco Molinaro, 18 – was stabbed near a pizza shop at around 10:35 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators said they are currently treating the incidents as separate.

“We’ve got two independent investigations,” OPP Const. Mark Kinney said Monday afternoon.

“As it stands now, we’re not treating them as one in the same.”

In a release Monday afternoon, the town described the deaths as “tragic.”

“Loss of life is always devastating; our condolences go out to both families,” Mayor Brian Smith said in the statement.

“It is unfortunate that these incidents have happened in our community.”

Smith said he would not be commenting on the deaths any further until he is provided with additional information by provincial police.

“It is my intention to meet with the OPP in the coming days to discuss the circumstances,” he said.

“Right now, the (t)own’s objective is to determine what can be done to try to prevent these altercations from happening in the future.”

Anyone with information about either incident is being urged to contact investigators at 705-429-3575 or 888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
