Two men are facing a long list of charges after a 21-year-old woman was taken off an Oshawa Street, held against her will and forced to work in the sex trade at a number of GTA hotels late last year.

Police responded to an Oshawa business on Nov. 24 after receiving a 911 call from a female who reported being confined for a week and forced to work as a prostitute.

Upon arrival, police say officers found two suspects smoking marijuana in a nearby vehicle; however when they attempted to arrest them the driver allegedly struck one of the officers with his car as he reversed and sped away from the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was apprehended three days later but the second suspect had been outstanding until his arrest at a Toronto mall on Tuesday.

Police say further investigation has determined that the victim was also sexually assaulted by one of the suspects during her captivity.

Sahilan Surendran, 24, of Ajax, is facing 10 charges including forcible confinement, sexual assault and escape lawful custody.

Andrew Reece, 22, of Scarborough, is charged with exercise control and forcible confinement.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. Const. Rose of the Human Trafficking Unit at 1 (888) 579-1520 ext. 3260.
