Toronto police are investigating after two pedestrians were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicles in separate incidents Wednesday night.

The first occurred in the Finch Avenue and Au Large Boulevard area, east of Don Mills Road, at around 7 p.m.

According to police, the driver of one vehicle fled the scene following a two-vehicle crash.

The gender and age of the pedestrian struck by at least one of the vehicles involved in the collision was not immediately provided by police.

“They sustained serious injuries as a result of this collision,” Toronto police Const. Clibt Stibbe said at the scene.

“We are still looking at the cause and the chain events of this collision to determine what exactly happened, and where the pedestrian was on the roadway.”

A description of the driver has not been provided by police.

Investigators remain at the scene.

The second incident happened on Millwick Drive, in the Islington and Steeles avenues area, at around 7:35 p.m.

Stibbe said the victim, a man believed to be in his 80s, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, Stibbe said.
