A 19-year-old and a 44-year-old man are both dead after a three-vehicle crash near Hamilton's airport.

It happened on Highway 6 south of Leeming Road at around 7 a.m.

One of the victims was pronounced dead on scene while the other succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Two other people also suffered minor injuries in the crash.

"My understanding is that it was a head-on type collision. I don't know if it was weather-related or not at this point," OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told CP24 Tuesday morning.

Highway 6 has been closed between Chippewa and Haldibrook roads as police investigate.
