Toronto’s West Queen West neighbourhood received a nod from Vogue Magazine this month in an article mapping out the “coolest” neighbourhoods in the world.

The city’s hipster hangout came in second out of 15 on the magazine’s list, behind Shimokitazawa in Toyko.

In the article, published in Vogue’s September issue, West Queen West was praised for its “verifiable artery of indie patisseries,” “homegrown labels” and “hidden-from-view galleries.”

West Queen West landmarks mentioned in the story include the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, The Drake Hotel and The Gladstone.

Other communities highlighted on the list include the Canal Saint-Martin neighbourhood in Paris and the Silver Lake neighbourhood in Los Angeles.
