An overnight water main break created an icy and slushy mess near Dufferin Street and St. Clair Avenue West.

The break occurred under a fire hydrant as the temperature dipped to -12 C overnight and it flooded Hope Street, just west of Dufferin.

Police officers at a roadblock told CP24 reporter Cam Woolley that there were reports of flooded backyards and basements.

Catch basins were buried under snow, preventing the water from draining.
