If you’re getting around the city this weekend, there are a number of road closures to know about.

Lion’s Club Parade

A series of road closures will take place on Saturday, July 5 to accommodate a parade that is part of the Lions Club International Convention:

  • Queen's Park/Queen's Park Crescent will be closed in both directions from Bloor Street to College Street from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • University Avenue will be closed in both directions from Queen Street to Adelaide Street from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The northbound lanes of University Avenue from College Street to Queen Street will be closed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A number of other roads in the downtown core are also closed or partly blocked off due to construction. The city is advising those coming into the core to use public transit where possible.

Taste of Lawrence

Lawrence Avenue will be closed from Warden Avenue to Birchmount Road starting at 10 a.m. Friday until Sunday, July 6 at 11:59 p.m. for the Taste of Lawrence festival.

Transit

In addition to road closures there will be a number of changes to subway service this weekend

  • Union Station will be closed on Sunday, July 6 due to construction. Trains will run between St Andrew and King stations, but will not stop at Union.
  • Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) will open late Sunday between St. George and Pape stations. Service will begin between the two stations at noon instead of 9 a.m. Shuttle buses will be running to replace regularly scheduled service until then.
