A 27-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run collision on the Danforth late last night that left a 63-year-old man dead.

Toronto police said the suspect was arrested at her home Thursday morning in connection with the fatal incident.

The man was struck at Danforth and Gillard avenues at around 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday night, Toronto police said.

The man was rushed to hospital, but died of his injuries.

The driver fled the scene.

Police previously said they were seeking a grey or brown 2000 Toyota Corolla with fresh damage in connection with the collision.

Police told CTV News that there is “no way” the driver would not have known that she had struck someone.

Meron Guizzardi, 27, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death and criminal negligence causing death.

Investigators are asking any area businesses with surveillance footage to come forward.
