Toronto police are investigating after a man allegedly punched and robbed a woman in Parkdale earlier this month after inexplicably gaining entry to her apartment with a key.

Police say that on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 15, a man unlocked the door of an apartment in the area of Jameson and Springhurst avenues, startling the woman residing inside.

The woman asked the suspect how he happened to have a key to her apartment, and police said the man gave a “random” name of someone who supplied him with the key.

The woman then told the suspect to follow her to the office of the building’s superintendent so they could figure out how the suspect obtained the key.

As the woman and the suspect walked to the superintendent’s office, police said the woman attempted to take a photo of the man with her cell phone.

When this occurred, police allege the suspect punched the woman in the face, took her phone, and fled down a stairwell.

The suspect is described as black, with a light complexion, standing five-feet-eight inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds. He was sporting a goatee, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
