A 39-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and run collision in the city’s west end.
The woman was struck at Bloor Street and Dovercourt Road around 9 p.m. as she attempted to cross the road, police said. The impact from that collision put her in the path of the second vehicle which also struck her, but remained at the scene.
Paramedics found the woman without vital signs and rushed her to a trauma centre via emergency run. However she died in hospital a short time later.
It’s not yet clear what caused the collision.
Police said the driver of the first vehicle did not remain at the scene.
“We have several witnesses that have already come forward and we are looking for more,” Const. Clint Stibbe told CP24 at the scene.
He said police are reviewing video surveillance to try and identify the vehicle. He said police are looking for a white Mercedes Benz S-Class, years 1986 to 1991, with fresh damage to the left front and possibly a headlight or turning signal.
“I would suggest that if that person is listening they should contact a lawyer and then contact police,” Stibbe said.
Bloor Street has been closed both ways between Rusholme and Dovercourt roads as police investigate the fatal collision.
